Heck Brad McQuaid even said that you could "extort money" from NPCs if you take the Thug Diplomacy class! How can you beat that? Can you imagine a whole guild of Thugs, corrupting a city! Or Firebrands, whipping a city up into an irrational fury against another faction?!

Zinn

Take a look at the Stratics preview. It is pretty amazing. I posted the link in the sticky. It goes into classes, sub classes, how diplomats level and much more. By far it is the most comprehensive and informative Diplomacy inofrmation we have seen yet.

Diplomacy wont be for everyone but will surely keep many of us busy, including myself

Did they say anything bout having Adventure buff to help out your diplomacy or its totally independant ?

Hexonyx

Exactly! I was waiting on someone to pick up on it! they could single handedly turn a town or city into a black market, barter economy!

Well I think we may be jumping ahead of ourselves on what effects the diplomacy will have such as a gang. That or people just have a lot more information than me. Based on something I read, though I'm really horrible and keeping sources, certain races with certain diplomacy classes will be neccessary to get through many quests. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm really keen on this idea because of how much diversity it will keep instead of everyone being a diplomat or thug and getting their way. The only thing I'm sad they don't have, which would probably be impossibly hard to impliment, is group diplomacy. I mean they say there is a town-wide effect when people go through the motions, but I'd really like to see people combining like a thug and diplomat in a party to influence things even greater and go above and beyond.

Just a little tidbit I heard when I was in San Diego...you can DIE on a diplomacy quest. I was talking to Steve Williams (who is the big diplomacy guy on Sigil's staff) and he said that he got his wish...there actually is at least one quest where you can be killed if your diplomacy skills aren't up to par or you don't play your cards right. (hehe...terrible pun.) Apparently, if you screw up, a gang of thugs jumps out and attacks you. Sounds like fun to me!

Is it sad that kind of makes me smile? I mean I'm not a glutton for punishment (despite my death rate on MMOs) but I like how they make it seem more realistic. Now, is this an instant death, or does it start a fight where you have a chance to defend yourself? Because I honestly hope I build up my characters equally in all three spheres enough that I could put up a good fight.

Alright, then here is the plan, we're gonna set up a raid and then when it comes down to it we'll unleash war on them... all to save my life and make me the most awesomest diplomat ever(yeah... I should probably go to bed when I start saying things like awesomest)
