I've been working on "By Night" (starts in the Themnwar area of Thestra) since I was barely a teen. Now, it's gone green to me, but I was really curious as to how it ends. So, even though I probably won't get very much experience out of it, I'd like to complete it.I know it was broken a while back. If I recall, the wolves section of the quest didn't work properly, halting any further progress in the quest line. I remember reading in patch notes that that issue had been corrected. However, word on the street is the "fix" broke another part of the quest, much later on (see SPOILER later in this post). I know I won't be able to fully complete this quest until that part is fixed, but I want to at least get my progress up TO that point.
I'm not quite to that part yet, but seem to have found another hitch. One of the quest-givers asked me to escort a relative to town. The quest-giver went into another room to get the escort-ee ready. I followed along behind. The quest-giver left the room and went back to her starting location. I followed behind.
I never did see the escort-ee. The quest-giver never said another word. I ran down the road into town to see if the escort-ee may have gone on ahead. No escort-ee.
Did I do something wrong? Is there some trigger I'm supposed to know about to get the escort-ee to show up? Absolutely nothing was indicated in the quest. If there is a trigger, it might have been nice for the quest to hint at it.
Anyway, I know other people have gotten past this part in the past, but could it be bugged now? Has anyone escorted the escort-ee in the past 2 or 3 days? Or has anyone else had the escort-ee be a no-show, like it is for me?

To escort the escortee, wait until sara (think thats the girl's name) is actually in the room, then drop quest and hail mother again to getquest again. Should work for you then, but you are right, the quest is bugged after taht step for me as well. 4 big patches later and still no fix for this quest or the rage ruby quest

Was just running this quest the other night - regrettably it's still broken.In your case above - you could have run into bad timing. If the quest was already in motion by another group - that is if someone had already talked to the mother and she sent Sara on with them - you will not be able to pick up the escort. What is screwey with that is that you can talk to the mother and she will walk to the other room -
Anyway, you have to wait a bit. We ended up having to abandon and then progress the quest once more. This time she walked to the other room and Sara was there... they talk a bit and then Sara ~slooowly~ walks the path back to three rivers. There are a few surprises along the way.. have fun with that
The broken part is at the end - once you reach your destination and she speaks to the person you escort her to, you cannot finish the quest - the quest dialogue that pops up is somehow flagged as if you were still speaking to the mother.... Hope they fix it some time soon.

First Post, so hiyas to you all.I completed this the other afternoon. Final part is now fixed since last patch; you can now talk to Grelrin Tremean (think thats his name), hail him, he turns agro. WARNING if you have a weak group you will have a lot of grief. I did this as lvl 20 cleric with sorc support, if it was'nt for the assistance of passing lvl 24 DK we would have died. I do not want to say anymore as I do not want to spoil.

I started this quest in my teens and had to shelve the final part (escorting Sona to 3R) because of the NPC Lieutenant bug -- however, I always was successful in escorting Sona (killing 3 packs of wolves along the way) to the NPC. Reading that this final portion was now fixed, I have twice attempted to escort Sona ... but she dies during the 3rd pack-attack (her health drops during each attack and I am unable to heal her), even though I'm killing the wolves as fast as I can and I am now level 20. This quest is now below my level, and I'm not getting any kill-credit for the wolves, so it seems ridiculous that she is dying now (and didn't when I was a much lower level). I just want to be done with this dang quest!!!
