Again, congrats Machail and good luck with AoC! My understanding is that will be a PvP-centric game, am I right? I do like PvP to a certain degree, but there's usually too much of an egomaniacal playerbase in those and it gets to the point where honor and morality take the backburner for killing just for the sake of it (in WoW world PvP, I'd be the high level character that would never kill a lower enemy unless they provoked it, or at least I'd take them down to low health and let them run off, just to remind them who's boss...hehe).But hopefully AoC will have a system in place for that stuff.
Anyway, back to our beloved Vanguard, and more importantly crafting, to Dal I say, "Haaaa-haaaaa!" [/Nelson] and welcome to a new level of insanity! Seriously though, crafting has a rediculously steep learning curve, there are a lot of things to learn about and you really gotta have them mastered by your teens to have any hope of success whatsoever. It's funny, I started out with one Vanguard file at my desk here, but I quickly seperated it into my Adventuring file and a Crafting file (guess which one is more full of paper?) and not a day goes by that I don't reference something out of that crafting file.
Hmmm...this actually tempts me to maybe make a Quick Guide thread on crafting starter tips for the site instead of logging on this morning...hmm...

for some reason lately I am only getting a small part of the Newsletters to load on my screen ... namely the links to other articles. Absolutley 0 of the Newsletter text is showing up on my screen. Any ideas why this would be?Valdruk
One of the hooks to vanguard for me has been the diplomacy and crafting. Why? Well, for starters I like things in a game that really require you to think and plan ahead. I am also all for steep learning curves initially for a skill in a game or skills that are constantly requiring learning.Crafting and to a degree Diplomacy fit that and this has been part of the reason I have been splitting time between Eve Online and Vanguard and no other games.

Congratulations Machail. I hope, however, that Dal will post your correct contact information for when we are stuck in the middle of some "yet to have a guide written" dungeon...
As for the crafting bug, welcome to the dark (or perhaps darker) side Dalmarus. It gets easier the higher you get in crafting level. I will also say, for all those high teens, low 20's crafters, check out the crafting forums and, more importantly, the crafting quest guides. They can be fun and, more importantly, net you some nice low level crafting gear that will have a huge impact on your success rate.

As Rufin so rightly put put it "Welcome to the drak side of Vanguard!" While it does get easier - it also get more frustrating and the tirades of "colorfull" words gets worse. Doesn't it Rufin???Again welcome to the Darkside!!
