Heh. As a casual player, I am seldom the required level to hit new raid content the moment it goes live. Even when I have been, I have held off because of the "gold rush" you describe.
My "wait and see" mentality inevitably backfires and developers seek to make the new content more exciting than the existing content. This generally means that the drops off of yard trash in the new areas surpass the stuff I have access to in the old areas.
As for the reason behind the XP boost, I think that was just the knee-jerk thing to do for the holiday. I'd rather see in-game events, but a gift is a gift is gift. The question remains--the same one you implicitly asked--is this really a gift?Machail
Agreed. I don't see it as anything more than a kind gesture. Maybe it wasn't *needed* but it's still nice of the team to get into the holiday spirit, in any capacity.
I'm really anxious to see the first few days of APW on live. Testing has been going well, but for the most part, we've been split into separate wings during stress testing.. It's going to be interesting to see 300 people cramming in and trying to take on the first wing bosses. If I were a GM, I'd probably call in sick those days lol.Varyck
An event would have been 150% better than the experience boost. Especially since at times I questioned whether it was even working, since some of the mobs I was downing were giving me the same exp as they usually did.
Not to mention I had spent the past week getting into diplomacy only to find out the exp boost was for crafting/adventuring and I had to change pace to get any effect out of the "gift". Why the diplomacy hate? Anyway I think I'd liken the exp bonus "gift" to someone forgetting your birthday and regifting something to you at the last minute...wrapped in newspaper.Astuun
I used the ever-loving hell out of the xp bonus for crafting. Not too many people will disagre with crafting being just a bit of a grind right now...and the XP bonus was very used by many crafters, I've never seen some outposts so crowded (I was mainly in TG, but any crafting table was busy over the holiday!).

Glad they added it in after the holiday when I was away then!
I used it to knock out about 18 straight crafting levels or something like that. I tend to dabble in all the spheres and it really has slowed down my overall leveling. I don't care though I enjoy it. Trying now to get my crafting above my adventuring/diplo so I can makes myself some nice clothes. Then eventually I'll go back and adventure some more.
Doesn't help that I've already done the BMG adventuring, redoing things makes me lose interest. No new spells to look forward too, so I'm straying to the other spheres![]()

Yeah my goal is to be able to make gear I want to wear. WIth me finally getting to T3 levels in crafting, I'm getting there. No big plans to level either, we're shooting for even-con fights in Wardship next as a guild.
