If you want to add this to the front, go ahead.
A lot of people ask me how they have their skills at certain levels, and instead of trying to figure it out for each level I just made a list for all levels. This is my suggestion, and close to how I went with my skills. Some may disagree with this method, but imo, and of a few other 50's I've talked to, the final build this system creates is the best currently known.
I did this in a way to get maximum amount of new skills as fast as possible without being seriously screwed up in stats. It requires a lot of +station gear in the beginning and gradually switching over to a lot more +tool gear as you reach the late 20's and into the 30's, and definately lots of +tools level 40+
Level 1 - 7 Station, 7 Utilities, 10 Tools, Actions Gained: Tool 1 Action 2: Low Progress, Low Quality, 100AP

Heya!
Okay, so in the process of grinding my leatherworker alt, I found myself wondering on a couple of occasions 'dammit, when DID I get that action'?! I eventually got it, and so my question answered itself, but noone seemed to know when they got it either, so here's my attempt at collating said information.
This information is still incomplete, but if you'd be so kind as to pop notes where you know you got skills I'll update it - I would find it a helpful resource to determine where to allocate points when leveling (especially when on one of these boundaries), so I figure maybe someone else would too.
Code:
Station Skills

430 - Tool 2 Action 5: Low Progress, 50AP
In addition, beginning in tier 3, each new tier adds an extra action family (Tool 2, Utility 2, and Station 2) to the build process. These action families come with a default first action regardless of your skill level, in addition to the ones you obtain through higher base skill, as shown below:
Code:
T3 Recipes - Tools 2 Action 1: Moderate Progress, 75AP
T4 Recipes - Utilities 2 Action 1: Moderate Progress, 75AP
T5 Recipes - Station 2 Action 1: Moderate Progress, 75AP
EDIT: It's not incorrect anymore, just a tad incomplete. Getting there, though

While far from ideal, here are some levels & number of actions gained (from my logs; only names are listed, which I can't log in to match vs outcomes & costs right now). I know I'd benefit from knowing /when/ new stuff arrives, even if not exactly what, so hopefully this partial-fillout will be a useful.
Finishing/Refining refer to smithing. Sculpting/shaping refer to the artificer version.
"Blanks" (like Tools@250 for finishing) should be interpreted as "no statement", not "0"
Tools
10 - 5 sculpting, 3 shaping
20 - 5 finishing, 3 refining; !! 0 sculpting, 0 shaping
50 - 5 finishing, 3 refining; 5 sculpting, 3 shaping

125 - 15 finishing, 15 refining

250 - 14 refining
270 - 2 refining

110 - 3 finishing, 1 refining
125 - 19 finishing, 15 refining
160 - 3 finishing, 1 refining
200 - 1 finishing
240 - 3 finishing
250 - 15 finishing
--Oddities--
Tools 20: My smith gained finishing/refining actions here, but my artificer did not (I tracked down the "increased to 20" lines to verify that no actions were listed as being gained). My artificer logs are not as complete, so I don't know if there are other examples too.
Blacksmithing 125: I got "Perfect Alignment", which I think is a station-using remedy for one of the beneficial complications
--Edit--
Removing the entries that you already have data for, the new material from this post would be:
Station
30 - 3 finishing, 1 refining; 4 sculpting, 3 shaping
125 - 14 finishing, 17 refining
Utilities
70 - 3 finishing, 1 refining; 3 scuplting, 4 shaping

The list at the first post should get an update:
440 - Station 2 Action 3: Moderate Progress, Very Low Quality, 100AP
460 - Station 2 Action 4: Very High Progress, Low Quality Penalty, 75AP
480 - Station 2 Action 5: Very High Progress, Moderate Quality Penalty, 50AP
500 - Station 2 Action 6: Very High Progress, 125AP
500 - Finisher: "Quality Bonus: High" 200AP
500 - Station Complication Remedy Set 5
The last Station Remedy Set has mainly 75 AP remedies, which clear a complication complete bundled with a moderate quality penalty.
The problem with all the last "very high progress" actions is: they are high actions in a second set. Means, they are not very effective. Most times I get nearly equal results with station2 action1 (mod prog 75AP). But ok, to get that high we only have to give up tool2 action4, which is very nice, but not really necessary.
For most recipes build and aquired actions will not be very important, they are quite easy. For my tailor only the T5 bags (lvl51 recipe) are a bit harder.
Another main topic at 50 is faction. You will have to do gray workorders without any qual as fast as possible. So you need strong progress actions. Station2 action4 would be enough here (no advantage of actions 5 or 6). But at those recipes Station2 action1 will need only one more click at max.
We still don't know utility action 6 and tool actions 5 and 6 of the second stages. We still don't know the type of the 5th remedy sets of utility and tool. But probably this knowledge will not change the useful builds.
Calysto — April 26th, 2007, 01:43 AM
Good idea to compile such list, but you should make sure not to list errors.

When someone posts their build and doesn't ask for ADVICE, why does everyone criticize it? Each person crafts differently. As long as the person is getting the quality they want, leave them alone. It's fine for people to ask for advice, but in no way should everyone be the exact cookie cutter skill setup. Not everyone is gonna have the exact same crafting gear, which changes the "geared stat" totals. Not everyone hits the step/actions in the same order. If someone asks for advice then give your opinion, but let them sift through all the information and find THEIR OWN style and setup.
I only give these pieces of advice anymore:
1) Try to keep your "Geared" skill levels no less then 10*current level, otherwise problems arise in either Progress, Quality or Complications.
2) Point them toward the Skill/Action Table.
3) Tell them to take all the advice they get from people and find their own style, becuz gear isn't gonna be the same as everyone else.

Station has 6 at 500:
action 6: VH prog, 125 AP
finisher: VH qual, 200 AP
Best build IMO and for my class seems to be 500 station (-comps, finisher and VH prog on both steps), 410 utils (+VH prog, +mod qual action and VH prog actions), and the rest in tools (over 270 so get VH prog action). With great +tools gear (and blood red pants rawr) my stats are:
station: 594
tools: 563
utils: 568
problem: 529
reason: 491
ing: 490
finess: 475
I could probably go with some more +fin gear in place of PS since station is maxed, but not worried about it since all combines are fairly trivial for pristine As.

I just deleveled my station skill to 179 and relogged then leveled up station 1 point and wala.
-180 - Station 1 Action 5: Low Progress, Very Low Quality, 75AP
I also verified the following while I was messing with my point values, and these are all correct.
Station Skills
-190 - Finisher: "Quality Loss: Low" 50AP
Tool Skills
-230 - Tool 1 Action 6: Low Progress, High Quality, 150AP
-250 - Tool Complication Remedy Set 3
Utility Skills
-240 - Utility 1 Action 6: Very High Progress, Moderate Quality, 200AP
Please fix
Jaradis — May 25th, 2007, 09:37 AM
What was Station 2 Action 5? And when? Or is that Station 5 you have listed?
Guess we'll have to take tools and utils to 500 to see what those do as well. Hrm, I may end up going with 500 Station as well for those.
Station - 500
Utilities - 410
Tools - 290
Really can't see anything in Tools or Utils at near 500 worth going for, already get a Very High or High progress in both at 410 or under. So I may go with the above.

Thanks for starting this post, I hope people can contribute and also I hope this gets stickied!! I usually add points to skills in increments of 5 hoping for a new skill.
The only one I noticed was last night: refining 350 gives 3rd finisher 150 point low quality bonus. (350 leatherworking or oufitting does NOT BTW.. hope I get it at 360.. it is nice to have)

For completeness, the following are inherant parts of certain tier recipes, not earned at a skill level:
T3 Recipes - Tools 2 Action 1: Moderate Progress, 75AP (Double check please)
T4 Recipes - Utilities 2 Action 1: Moderate Progress, 75AP (Double check please)
T5 Recipes - Station 2 Action 1: Moderate Progress, 75AP

This thread si really helpful
What I'm wondering now tho, is this.. what should I do with the attribute points (prob solving, finesse etc)? I've seen different opinions on those and I would really like to find out a solid build for those..
In case it helps, I'm mordebi human mineralogist.

Station: 500

I tend to use tool actions the most and specificly this action:
Tool Actions: 370 - Tool 2 Action 4: Low Progress, High Quality, 150AP

Added.. yeah, it looks like tool gear is de rigeur for the perfect build - I agree with the 410/500/290 build you posted Jaradis, I think that is as good as it gets, it's just not really easy to get that much tools on gear I guess
