I just finished all the Continental Style quests today, and had to gather information about where they all started, what factions were involved, and where to do work orders from a number of sources, so here\'s one thread that contains it all (hopefully).

\nCorrections and additions are welcome, of course.

\n

\nContinental Style Quest Guide

\n

\nContinental Style Quests are the method by which an Artisan from one continent learns how to use the crafting recipes found on another continent. As a crafter, you already know the style of the continent on which you started.

\n

\nThe Continental Style quests require faction work before you can begin them, and sometimes additional work before they can be completed. Higher-level recipes can also require greater faction before they can be purchased. Once you have completed the initial Continental Style quest, you can learn further tiers on that continent just as it\'s residents do.

\n

\nFaction Requirements

\nOnce you decide which continent you want to learn recipes on, the next thing you\'ll need to do is find an outpost with work order taskmasters on the continent that gives faction both for the cities you\'ll need to visit, and for the continent\'s artisans. The recommended outposts are listed in the appropriate section below. Each completed work order gives the listed faction bonuses regardless of whether it is a "batch," "set," or single, and also regardless of the work order\'s level. For the fastest faction grinding, do trivial, very easy, or easy single-item work orders.

\n

\nEach Continental Style quest will send you to three major cities on that continent. Your static city faction in those cities must be -7999 or higher to avoid being killed by the guards of that city. Outposts with taskmasters that are near one of these cities will typically provide +10 city faction for each work order completed there.

\n

\nIn order to learn a Continental Crafting Style, you must have 100 or more faction with the artisans of that continent (Thestran Artisans, Kojani Artisans, or Qualian Artisans, depending on the continent). Learning the recipes of each tier will require even more artisan faction. Learning Amateur recipes (up to level 20) requires 200 Continental Artisan faction, increasing by a like amount for each tier. Outposts with taskmasters on a continent will typically provide +2 Continental Artisan faction for each work order completed.

\n

\nThestran Style

\n

\nFaction Required: Thestran Artisans

\nNon-KoS Required: New Targonor, Bordinar\'s Cleft, Leth Nurae, Tursh Village

\n

\nCrafting Outposts

\nFisher\'s Pen (Central Thestra) gives +2 Thestran Artisans and +10 Tursh Village for each work order completed.

\nSouthwatch (Central Thestra) gives +2 Thestran Artisans, +10 Bordinar\'s Cleft, and +10 New Targonor for each work order completed.

\nVeskal\'s Exchange (Eastern Thestra) gives +2 Thestran Artisans and +10 Leth Nurae for each work order completed.

\nWardship of the Sleeping Moon (Eastern Thestra) gives +2 Thestran Artisans and +10 Leth Nurae for each work order completed.

\n

\nCompleting work orders from the Imperial Trade Organization, New Targonor Trading Company, or Arcane Camarilla factions in New Targonor is not advised unless you have already chosen which NT faction you will work with in the future, as raising one of those factions will lower the other two.

\n

\nStarting NPCs (all in New Targonor)

\nArtificer: Linnike Velra - Speak with Brondar Northwall in Bordinar\'s Cleft, Tilrame Welsare in Leth Nurae, Teln Oshken in Tursh, and craft Wooden Staff x3 (Finishing Station, Special Recipes)

\nBlacksmith: Grodek - Speak with Carind Seaforge in Bordinar\'s Cleft, Loralit Ashale in Leth Nurae, Rella Torane in Tursh, and craft Knife Blade x3 (Finishing Station, Special Recipes)

\nOutfitter: Romandar Whitebeard - Speak with Gennear Tinbinder in Bordinar\'s Cleft, Jahwen Lurast in Leth Nurae, Callen Brandywell in Tursh, and craft Cloth Gloves x3 (Finishing Station, Special Recipes)

\n

\nKojani Style

\n

\nFaction Required: Kojani Artisan

\nNon-KoS Required: Ca\'ial Brael, Clan Martok, City of Tanvu

\n

\nCrafting Outposts

\nTawar Galan (near Ca\'ial Brael on Kojan) gives +2 Kojani Artisan, +10 Clan Martok, +10 Ca\'ial Brael, and +10 City of Tanvu for each work order completed.

\nVarryn Dunes (on Qualia) gives +2 Kojani Artisan, +10 Clan Martok, +10 Ca\'ial Brael, and +10 City of Tanvu for each work order completed.

\n

\nUnlike Qualia and Thestra, the Kojani style quests\' starting zone differs depending on your Artisan class.

\n

\nStarting NPCs

\nArtificer: Milakesh Noradu in Ca\'ial Brael - Speak with Alasani Takon in Tanvu, Lorran Elorja in Ca\'ial Brael, Haggor in Martok, and craft Wooden Staff x3 (Finishing Station, Special Recipes)

\nBlacksmith: Kimaka Rett in Martok - Speak with Katako Moonwalker in Tanvu, Lakash Daykete in Ca\'ial Brael, and Tarena Blakston in Martok, and craft Knife Blade x3 (Finishing Station, Special Recipes)

\nOutfitter: Oranku Silverwolf in Tanvu - Speak with Hotaren Waterfall in Tanvu, Perun Olanni in Ca\'ial Brael, Bargon in Martok, and craft Cloth Gloves x3 (Finishing Station, Special Recipes)

\n

\nQualian Style

\n

\nFaction Required: Qualian Artisans

\nNon-KoS Required: Aghram, Hathor Zhi, City of Khal, City of Mekalia

\n

\nCrafting Outposts

\nRefugee Camp (Jharru Flats in Eastern Qualia) gives +2 Qualian Artisans and +10 The City of Khal for each work order completed.

\nTar Janashir (Eastern Qualia) gives +2 Qualian Artisans and +10 City of Mekalia for each work order completed.

\nInfineum Plateaus Northern Camp (Western Qualia) gives +2 Qualian Artisans and +10 Hathor Zhi for each work order completed.

\n(Unknown whether any outposts give +10 Aghram faction per work order)

\n

\nCompleting work orders from The Cabal, The Merchant\'s Guild, or Society of Invention factions in Aghram is not advised unless you have already chosen which Aghram faction you will work with in the future, as raising one of those factions will lower the other two.

\n

\nStarting NPCs (all in Aghram)

\nArtificer: Sajin Callash - Speak with Shaliz Talhani in Khal, Serin Talah in Hathor Zhi, and Silaskun in Mekalia, and craft Wooden Staff x3 (Finishing Station, Special Recipes)

\nBlacksmith: Valer Thanul - Speak with Safashan Dalsary in Khal, Sallan Lerris in Hathor Zhi, and Tacoi Obee in Mekalia, and craft Knife Blade x3 (Finishing Station, Special Recipes)

More info that can be edited in...(this guide is so much more detailed than the sticky one that I\'m giving my bumps to this one.)

\r\n

\r\nI did the Qalia continental style quest and it was rather tricky on Frengrot (pvp teams server) as a light-team Raki If I can do it then anyone can.

\r\n

\r\nFinding some of the npcs is tricky especially with hostile races running around. I recommend use of /targetauto "npcnamehere" keys and use a temp character to scout if entering a hostile city if you are on a pvp server. Best to know where you are going.

\r\n

\r\nYou can grind HZ faction pretty quick on the camps of "Intruding outsiders" or "Wandering nomads" or something (I forget the exact name) but they are in the valley leading towards Hathor Zhi, and they pop like popcorn, getting the 200+ I needed to be non-KOS with the npcs in HZ didn\'t take too long. You\'ll spot them, they are a raggedy bunch and all different races. There\'s also an opposing clan of dark elves out in the valley but I wasn\'t sure what side they were on so I left them alone. They stayed KOS when the city became non so I guess they are fair game.

\r\n

\r\nRefugee Crafting outpost mentioned under Qalia gives both +10 Khal and +10 Khal Foreign Quarter, along with the +2 Qalia artisans faction.

\r\n

\r\nQalia style novice npc locations:

\r\nSajin Callash (Ahgram) -41044, -1342, 2419, -14, 11.

\r\nThis was annoying, Ahgram has 1000 alcoves of which only about 10 contain doors but you have to stop and look in each one. There are about 4 workshop rooms with a raised balcony with crafting stations, Sajin is up on the balcony in one of them. This is very near the central dot for Ahgram on the map but I recommend a targetting macro.

\r\nSerin Talah (Hathor Zhi) -73831, 8192, -9889, -15, -10.

\r\nNot sure if there are 2 entrances to HZ, but I went in the left side one as you face the city, you go down a sloping tunnel and land in a round chamber with carpet, hard right there is a crafting nook off this chamber with her in it. For extra tingly, do this on a pvp server as a light team member.

\r\nShaliz Talhani (Khal) -49490, -40748, 1512, -13, -9.

\r\nIn the Crafters hall on the west side of the harbor.

\r\nSilaskun Lojay (Mekalia) 26309, 29993, 4624, -11, -9.

\r\nIn Thetaton Square in front of the crafting hall. In the city entrance, past the big metal building where the secret police beat on each other.

\n

\nBackground info:

\nErytheal Riftseeker

\n17 Thestran Mineralogist

\nAll applicable Thestran quests complete

\n400+ Thestran Artisan faction

\n

\nQuest Experience:

\nI was able to obtain the Qalian style quest with a Qalian Artisan faction of 38. Quest was obtained from the Master Artificer in Ahgram, along with the elemental focus and elemental jewelry quests.

\nI was able to travel to all three cities without incident (25 Adventurer), and completed the recipe (3 wooden staff bodies) easily. Completion of the quest granted 50 faction, and I quickly completed 6 more WO\'s at the Refugee Outpost south of Khal for 12 more, bringing me to 100. So, it looks like there is no longer a faction requirement to begin or finish the continental quest.

\n

\nRecipe Experience:

\nOnce I hit 100 faction, I was able to learn all the recipes for levels 1-9 from the Craft Advisor at the refugee outpost. However, recipes from 10-20 have a new wrinkle - wasn\'t surprised to see the flag stating I hadn\'t completed the Qalian Amateur quest, but there is now a second flag, stating I must have 200 Qalian faction to learn recipes from 10-20.

\n

\nSo, just a heads up that this (and other) guides may need updating.

\r\n \r\n \r\n

\r\n \r\n

This is bad info, you still have to get your faction up to get into Hathor Zhi.

\r\n

\r\nI believe WOs in Fishers Pen also gives +2 "Rindol and Tursh artisan faction" in addition to the mentioned 2 and 10.

\r\n \r\n \r\n

\r\n \r\n

From the patch notes: "- The continental style quest recipes have been better adjusted to fit the level of the quest."

\r\n

\r\nThe patch of 4/11/07 certainly changed this, while I did ding crafter level 12 before trying the quest again, I suddenly went from getting all "poors" and running out of action points 2/3rds of the way through, to getting all good to great and whipping out 3 staves to quality A with no real problem. The difficulty of the wood staff recipe seems greatly reduced.

What is Pangkor Zhi faction? Upon reaching 31 and doing my initiate quest in Thestra, I looked up my artifcer trainer in Ahgram and was told to look around Pangkor Zhi for something interesting (similar to what we have to do in Konarthi Point). I sashayed thru Hathor Zhi with my good faction there, based on the deaths of numerous Aeokor and treeants and whatnot. At the gate to Pangkor Zhi I received ominous warnings from a gatekeeper and then an extremely hostile reception from the guards. What and where can faction be built for Pangkor Zhi? the River Valley outpost?

\r\n

\r\nP.S. Never mind. I learned that the item to study is by the burned tent, outside the fort. So its not necessary to get past the guards to get the update. And unless Pankor Zhi should ever hold anything of interest to crafters, the question of faction and how to build it is irrelevant.

i would do that.

\r\ni did the kojan-style-quest last week and after finished all these run-arounds i did not find the recipe, my friend also.

\r\nwe abandoned and took it again and found the recipe.

\r\n

\r\n*notice to myself: always use any given recipe to craft the demanded items BEFORE run through the lands*

\r\n \r\n \r\n

\r\n \r\n

This is incorrect. Tar Janashir is a faction machine:

\r\n

\r\n+20 Khal (it gives you +10 twice - bug?), +10 Mekalia, +2 Qalian Artisans, +2 Mekalia Artisans

\r\n

\r\nThere may actually be one or two more - I\'m doing this from memory.

Where did he say you didn\'t? His info is 100% accurate. You don\'t need 100 Continental Artisan faction to start the quest like so many say. You just need to have 100 to get the recipes at the end.

\r\n

\r\nAnd not all races are KoS to Hathor Zhi to start.

after leaving Kojani style aside for several months, I went back and got faction for Martok so as to chat with Haggor. Now I cannot find the recipe under Finishing>specials (or anywhere else) for 3 wooden staffs. I am 37 minerology now, so novice kojani style is gray in my journal, but still...the recipe shouldnt vanish.

Unfortunately, the folks in Southwatch apparently consider themselves to be New Targoner citizens, rather than members of an outpost. I, as a goblin, am still KOS to them. I was rather hoping I could do 20 or so work orders, rather than having to slaughter 200 or so mobs.

\r\n

\r\n/sigh

\r\n

\r\nOh well, time to find more boars...

\r\n

Jgok

I\'m a sad monkey who should check the stickies, as that would have saved me a great deal of time in figuring these quests out... Still, there\'s a bit more in here that\'s not included in the sticky above.
