With the sheer amount of knowledge and information that is here on the forums, it can be a little daunting to some to find the information they are looking for. While we have done our best to try to catagorize all important information from maps, FAQ's, galleries and guides and every type of sticky inbetween, some people still run into issues.
Here are some helpful pointers and things to remember/try when attempting to find the answers you are seeking.
1.) The Search Feature
The Search option is located along the top navigation bar of the forums. It should be your first stop if you are looking for something. If you end up with too many or too few results, try to either broaden or narrow your parameters.
2.) The "General Information and Crafting Guides (Wiki)" forum
This area holds a vast majority of the questions you may have as a crafter. The info in here is not class specific however. Class specific; such as how to build a certain item, quests to attain a specific tool etc, should be found in the crafting profession specific forum. Originally this area was to hold the info that would be placed in the wiki. While the wiki is now up, much of the info in the forums has stayed in the forums.
The info contained here should be known by everyone as it greatly improves or aids in the general quest for the goal of being a productive crafter.
3.) The Crafting Profession specific forums
The info located in here should be very specific to the profession. For example, if you looked in the Blacksmith forum, you should not see questions about making wooden planks in this area but you may find info about what parts of a boat you are needed for (IE: Bindings, nails, fasteners ect.).
Note: The House and Boat forum is for end result discussions. It will not contain info about the crafting process of player/guild housing and plots nor the creation of boats. It may contain, however, images of variations on each, maps of locations and layouts and other useful info.
4.) The Bug Areas
Got a question about an issue? Having a hard time or think it may be a bug? A quick glance over the bugs area may save you a huge amount of time, frustration and headache. In this area you may be able to find the answer to that pesky bug you have been encounting. Sometimes, you may even find legit work-arounds until the devs are able to remedy the issue and a hotfix/patch comes out. While the devs presence on the forums may seem limited (or non-existant in some cases), rest assured that they are keeping an eye on things.
Do not post dupes, hacks ect in any area. If you encounter one, please use the petition/feedback/bug feature ingame. You may also PM a moderator and we have a means of forwarding this information discretely (the whole idea is to keep people from exploiting! Posting how to duplicate the circumstances only increases the chance that people will take advantage of this) to the devs.
5.) Ask the question if you cant find your answer!
Looked for a while through all the info available and still cant find your answer? Well then ask away! The best place to ask a question is in the area that best describes the profession/type of issue. Don't be affraid to ask, just be mindful of the time and effort that those in the community put in to help others. If you are lazy, and it shows then you may not quite get the response you were hoping for.
