The Path of Hayatet the Phoenix

originally published by Assembled by the archive from its own quest and ability rows · 1,968 words

The quest chain for one Shaman patron, in order, with each Ancient's own words and the patron's ability line.

The phoenix. Hayatet's line is fire and rebirth, the resistances and the spell damage; its form is a phoenix, and its quest is the shortest of the three.

Assembled from the quest rows the archive holds, quoting each Ancient's own words, with the practical notes taken from the class site's board. It is a reading of the archive rather than a walkthrough somebody wrote at the time: no such walkthrough survives for any of the three patrons.

The chain

All three begin at a Shaman trainer at level 15 and cross at least one continent. The three Ancients are Korhal in Lomshir on Qalia, Goroza on an island in Lake Carlsson in the Vault of Heroes on Thestra, and Caelrial Brightshadow in the foothills of Jalen's Crossing on Kojan; whichever one you start with sends you to another.

  1. Follow Hayatet: The Path — from Goroza The Ancient in Vault Of Heroes, level 15

Travel to Qalia, to the foothills west of Lomshir near the Asiliary of Ali-Mar, and speak with Korhal the Ancient.

Goroza says, "The choice of one's patron spirit should not be made lightly, [your name]. The path of Hayatet leads to another land." "You must travel to Qalia, to the foothills west of Lomshir, south of the Asiliary of Ali-Mar, and speak with Korhal the Ancient."

Walked in game. Recorded from a guide reference. No stats or details were available in any data source; the guide named it, so it is kept as a pointer rather than lost.

  2. Follow Hayatet: The Fires Of Rebirth — from Korhal The Ancient in Lomshir, level 15

Find the Altar of Rebirth, and lay your hands upon it.

Korhal the Ancient says, "Hayatet is the great spirit of fire and rebirth. Consumed within her flames, you shall be reborn as well." "Travel to the cliff's edge, overlooking the sea, and search for the Altar of Rebirth. Lay your hands upon the altar, and bathe within its flames. If you are worthy, Hayatet herself will appear and open the path." TIP: The Altar of Rebirth is due north at -43,654; -30,756; 17,443.

Walked in game. The objectives line names only the altar, and skips the whole of what you actually do. Walked in game: on the way up the hill a Desperate Cackler appears, a dog or hyena. Interact with it and it leads you to an injured cackler pup. Interact with the pup and heal it, and Hayatet spawns long enough to tell you to meet her at the Altar of Rebirth. Only then is the altar step the one in front of you.

  3. Hayatet's Sacrifice

Present yourself to the Altar of Rebirth

What the board knew

The reason your patron quests are bugged is there was a script run to adjust quest levels, and it allowed you to get the quest too soon. Anyone who finishes the quests before level 15 will have to perform an additional step upon reaching level 15 to get your proper spirit walk. Rakurr and Hayatet Shaman, just go visit a Shaman trainer. Tuurgin Shaman will need to visit a trainer and say 'patronfix' to get your Spirit Walk ability after completing the quests and after reaching level 15.

— Elidroth Renato, a Sigil developer, 28 January 2007

Need to collect 4 cockatrice beaks, 4 goat horns, 4 wolf fangs around the lake where you get the patron quest.

— swookz, on the Tuurgin collection step

After dinging 15 and going to Lomshir I picked the Spirit Walk from the trainer. Then I went and found Korhal the Ancient. Then he told me to go to the altar and lay my hands on it. I did that and was ported to HAYATET where I simply finished the quest and was awarded my patron.
