An Insult To Masaras

1. The Raging Brownies Quest: An Insult to Masaras Telordaen is located in the chunk Shrine of the Flame, and you have the option of taking the blue riftway, Shrine of the Flame, or if you want to save a few silver you can take the New Targanor riftway. Telordaen is marked on your map and shouldn't be to hard to find. Upon arrival he tells you a story about an old wizard by the name of Masaras who was nice to the Unicorns, but his old area has been taken over by these enraged brownies. He would like you to slay 45 of them to help him out. The brownies are level 26 2dot and should be fairly easy to take out. There are two camps of them, but, if there's nobody else around killing them, you may only need the one camp. After killing the 45, head back to Telordaen for the next quest. 2. Protection from Ashendregs Quest: Worst of the Interposers With the Benevolant wizard Masaras gone, there is no force which protects the unicorns from the evil that live there. So Telordaen has resorted to asking adventurers like yourself to help in the cause. The worst of the bunch are the Ashendregs, which have taken up residence in some ruins, as well as camps around the northern part of the chunk. You are asked to slay 47 of them that live inside the ruin, as well as 23 of them that live in their camps. The first thing that you'll notice when you make it to the ruin is just how many Ashendreg's are inside and around the ruin (lots!). The entrance way has so many of them guarding the rest (as well as many wandering around) that it may take you a bit before you even reach the ones that you need that are inside the ruin. The best solution for this area would be to bring friends, a couple of them, so kills go by faster. The ashendregs that you need are level 25 4dot and 26 3dot, and they usually come in bunches. NOTE: As a bard I was able to jump up on to one of the sides of the ruin to bypass the entrance mobs and go straight for the ones you need to update the quest, but this was still dangerous and can cause mass aggro if done wrong. After killing 47 of those, make your way to the Ashendreg Camps (marked on your map) and kill the 23 that you need there. This step isn't nearly as hard as killing in the ruins and should take you no time, as they are only level 26 3dot mobs to slay. After you've killed all your Ashendregs, head back to Telordaen, and tell him about your successful journey. 3. Look at the Size of That Bird! Now Telordaen thanks you for killing the Ashendregs, but he still fears for his safety as there are gigantic birds called Cliff Rocs located in the Spider Bluffs chunk up in the mountains. He fears that they will one day swoop down on him and eat him for lunch. The Cliff Rocs are located on top of the mountains in the Spider Bluffs chunk, and are fairly spread out (should be generally marked on your map). Luckily you only need to kill 15 of them and loot their Retrixes (what's a retrix?), because they have a 100% drop rate. Collect the 15 retrixes and head back to Telordaen for a reward of some new bracers! Choose from either: Allegiance Scale Vambracers 4. No More Unicorns Quest: Maybe There are Others Telordaen thanks you for killing the 15 Cliff Rocs, but doesn't seem to have any leads on anymore unicorns that live on Thestra. He does however send you to a farmer by the name of Nathan Silver who just lives a bit to the northeast. He used to travel the world and may know another human that has come across another unicorn in his travels. Upon visiting Nathan Silver, he remembers a discussion he once had about a unicorn with his good friend Mattanien Jent, and he sends you there immediately. Unfortunately the location of Mattanien Jent isn't even close to the Shrine of Flames. In fact, the only quick way to Mattanien Jent would be to take the riftway to Three Rivers and then use the Griffons to fly one chunk north and one chunk west. 5. Finding Daesyril Mattanien tells you how a whole herd of unicorns used to live around there, but a few years ago they all caught a mysterious illness which wiped out the lot, except for afew. One by the name of Daesyril sometimes grazes a small island just west of here (marked on your map). Quest: Destroy the Ettercaps Journeying to this island, you will notice that it is under attack by Ettercaps. Once you make it to Daesyril she will confirm the fact that the unicorns that lived there were striken with the plague, and then have remained weak ever since. They no longer have the strength to fight off the invading Ettercaps and ask for some help in doing so. She wants you to kill 45 of them which roam nearby. There are a few different kinds of them, and each one will give you a quest update. They are all around level 27 3dot, and shouldn't be too hard to take out. After completion of this task, Daesyril will tell you to inform Mattanien Jent that they are all right, and that they will slowly start rebuilding their herd now that the ettercaps are gone.
