What they say
The parley
Quest Offering "I work with an overseas trading company that ships in quite a bit of foreign food and liquor," Nash says. "But lately the rats have been getting into it and destroying shipments before I can get them cleared to go up top." "I need someone to help me with this problem. If you think you can, I can tell you more." Dockhand Nash "As I said, I work mainly for a company that ships exotic foods from Kojan and Qalia," Nash says. "I thought the dockhands here worked for the city," you say. "Not individual companies." Nash smirks slightly. "I get a little extra... appreciation from this company for making sure their goods get up the elevator faster." "I see," you say. "So this little rat problem is really just cutting into your extra profits." Nash grumbles. "You could say that, I guess." "Alright," you say. "What do you need me to do?" I'm not really an exterminator. And don't think I have some magical set of pipes to lead them away." Nash laughs. "No no. I have the gear you need. I had some poison shipped in from Qalia that will be able to take care of the rat problem." "Why Qalian poison?" you ask. "It's just... stronger," he says. "They have had some nasty rat problems there before." "Alright," you say. "Then what?" "I've marked your map. I just need you to gather the poison out of the jug. I can point you towards the jug." "And the you need me to go to where you marked on my map?" "Yes," Nash says. "That is where the rats congregate. Just throw it behind the crates over there." "Consider it done, then," you say. Vorsat Location : -38163, 11968, 203 in New Targonor (-27, 24) "Well hello there," Vorsat says. "What do you think you're going to do with that?" You stare at the creature. "I was... uh, sent to take care of the rat problem." "I'm sure you were," he says. "Wasn't quite expecting this sort of a problem were you?" "No," you say, regaining composure. "Not at all." "So, who sent you?" he asks. "Dockhand Nash," you say. "He said rats were destroying his shipments of foreign foods before he could ship them up the elevator." "Well yes, that is technically true," Vorsat say. "But I would imagine he didn't tell you why those rats were eating his shipments, did he?" "No," you say. "I assumed they were doing it because they were, well, rats." "It's not a bad assumption," Vorsat says, "but it is wrong. They are destroying his shipments at my command. It is the price he pays for not paying what he owes my associate." "What do you mean?" you ask. "I don't think I understand." "You see," Vorsat says, "Nash has a bit of a gambling problem. He gambles, then doesn't pay. That's a problem. My associate gave him plenty of warning, but he refuses to pay." "So you destroy his goods until he finally pays," you say. "Seems like a bad plan to me. How can he pay you if he doesn't make any money?" "Oh see, that's the problem," Vorsat says, smiling. "He does have the money. He claims something about the rat races being fixed, so won't pay." "So, you send the rats to destroy his goods," you say. "What are you and where did you come from?" "I'm from the dunes of Qalia," Vorsat says. "There is a terrible storm coming there, so I was able to leave. I am a shaman, to answer your other question." "And you say the races aren't fixed? Even though you can control the rats, and your associate runs the races?" "I never said they weren't fixed," he says. "Only that Nash won't pay up on the debts he owes. Everytime he loses, he screams and cries that they're fixed. That is, until he wins. Then he expects us to pay up immediately." "I see," you say, putting down the poison. Quest Completion "As you can see," Vorsat says, "Nash though to use you as a pawn. He was going to use you to clear his debts. Why don't you hand over the poison, and we can clear this mess up the proper way." [Continue] Vorsat takes the poison, and takes a swig from the bottle. "I never did like the taste of this stuff, too bitter, and it gives me a sour stomach. For your generosity, though, in not trying to kill me, I can offer you something in return." Vorsat continues, "I have some friends in the city proper. I'll put in a good word up there for you, as well as with my friends here. Also, you can take this belt. I don't remember where I found it, but all those gods on it can't be bad luck."
