If you try to walk through the Vermach quarter, the guards will parley you on sight. If you run away, you will fail the quest (but no penalty and you can retake it). And they see invis. So go around the outside and in through the Hilthorn quarter.

Quest Offering Barri frowns and says, "House Heartsworn has called on one more favor from us. From you, in particular." "I despise doing favors for people like this, but it does help our agenda as well. House Remniol has long been a thorn in our side due to some of our more aggressive dealings with non-human citizens of Thestra. I need you to disrupt some of their operations and frame House Vermach for the disruption. They aren't enemies as yet, but with continued work they may become so." Enelya Singollo "Enalya," you say, "I'm here on behalf of Barri Gesset." "I know him," she says, scowling. "What does he want?" "I've come to frame House Vermach for certain crimes," you say. "I understand you have something against them?" "Only Mistress Luria," she says. "But if you have a problem with one Vermach, you've got a problem with all of them," you say. "That's very true," she says. "What did you have in mind?" "I planned to sour Remniol's dealings with one of the foreign ambassadors and frame Vermach for it," you say. "That would be a good plan," she says. "How are you going to go about that?" "I don't know," you say. "That's why I'm here." She holds up a small bag of seeds. "Take these. Put them in some food and serve it to one of the ambassadors." "Will it kill them?" you ask. "No," she says. "But foreign visitors all seem to hate Thestran Red Mustard. Either they can't stand the taste or they're allergic to it. They'll shout and bluster at being fed something so foul to them." "Thank you, Enalya," you say. Ambassador "Who are you to just barge in here?" the Ambassador asks. "I apologize Ambassador," you say, bowing your head. "I've been sent by Duchess Remniol." "What is this about?" the Ambassador huffs. "I'm here to deliver some food to you," you say. "They sent me with this." You hold out the plate of food with the red mustard seed added. "It is about time," the Ambassador says. "I've told three servants to fetch me food. It's as if nobody talks to each other around here." You watch as they take a large bit of the food. Suddenly the ambassador starts coughing violently. "Ambassador? Are you okay?" you ask. "What is in this?" she finally says between coughs. "I do not know Ambassador," you say. "Duchess Remniol sent it personally. She said she wished to give you a taste of Thestran cuisine." This is rancid," she shouts. "Get me Duchess Remniol, now." "I see," you say, bowing your head. "Right away." Guard Myna "Excuse me, guard," you say, huffing. "What is it citizen?" Myna asks. "I just saw something you need to see," you say, catching your breath. "What is it?" "I say somebody in that building there," you say, pointing. "And?" she asks. "Why is this important?" "They threw some clothes in a chest in there, and ran out the back in a hurry." "Why would this be worth my time?" she asks. "I heard shouting from one of the ambassadors," you say, "then this person came running in the back, threw the clothes in the chest, and then ran out." "Really?" she says. "I heard that shouting too." "Please, I believe the clothes may be important," you say, still huffing a little. "Thank you, citizen," she says. "I'll look at it right away." "My pleasure," you whisper. Guard Taylor "Where do you think you're going?" Guard Taylor asks. "That's my business, not yours," you say. "Not so," she says, grinning. "You're traveling through my district now." "And is it standard procedure to harass everyone who walks these streets?" "No," she says, "only those on Caberton business." "I'm not on any Caberton business," you say. "Unless you consider drinking business." "In Caberton's district it can be," she says. "Well it wasn't this time," you say. "Now I'd like to get going." she looks at you suspiciously. "Fine, but I better not see you coming out of there again." Quest Completion "You're back and word is starting to spread," Barri says.
