Quest Offering Lord Berrick smiles and says, "if you've walked around our district, and stepped into the Hammer and Sword or the Armorless Inn , I'm sure you've noticed how many visitors we have from outside of New Targonor . We attract knights from all over the realm because they know that Heartsworn stands as a beacon for the ideals they cherish." "We wish to be sure that they all share our ideals. Speak with them about duty, honor, justice, and purity." Heartsworn Ideals [1] You say, "Lady Katrinn Runeaxe, did you head about the Sir Pendragon?" "What about him?" asks Lady Katrinn Runeaxe. "Apparently he slew a number of suspected Verdant Lurkers," you say. "Ah! Nicely done," says Lady Katrinn Runeaxe. "That will teach those ill do-ers." "But they were not confirmed," you say, "only suspected." "Well," says Lady katrinn Runeaxe, "one doesn't always have time to examine every little fact..." "But if one of those people were innocent, or many, what separates that knight from a common killer?" you ask. Lady Katrinn Runeaxe looks conflicted. "Why, his intentions..." "Intentions are not resurrections," you say. "He still slew innocent people." "That is a terrible tragedy, yes," says lady Katrinn Runeaxe. "Don't you see?" you say. "This is why we need courts, and this is why we cannot take the law in our own hands." Lady Katrinn Runeaxe nods and says, "Yes. We cannot claim to stand for justice if we do things any other way. We must be more careful to stay our swords." You nod and say, "Exactly how I see it." Heartsworn Ideals [2] You say, “My, Lady Thona Lockheed, your armor is quite impressively.” “Do you think so?” asks Lady Thona Lockheed. “I spent an hour polishing it this morning.” “How did you win it?” you ask. “I purchased it,” says Lady Thona Lockheed. “For quite a few gold, let me tell you…” “Oh really?” you ask. “Isn't that a bit… Well, aren't there better things you could do with that money?” “Like what?” asks Lady Thona Lockheed. “Well, I am sure that there are many in need out there,” you say. “That money could buy them food or clothing or shelter…” “But then… what would I wear to battle?” asks Lady Thona Lockheed. “I am sure that there are many ways that one so skilled as yourself could win your armor in some contest of skill. I am sure you have bested an opponent or two in quite impressive armor.” Lady Thona Lockheed says, “But it defeated its previous owner, I am sure it would be at least a little dented.” You say, “Aren't you a knight?” “Why, yes…” says Lady Thona Lockheed. “And don't you adhere to ideals similar to those of your hosts, the Heartsworn?” you ask. “I do, yes,” says Lady Thona Lockheed. “Well one of those ideals is charity,” you say. “Taking care of those in need.” Lady Thona Lockheed looks dejected and says, “I've been a terrible knight…” Heartsworn Ideals [3] You say, “Lady Katrinn Runeaxe, would you ever participate in an unfair fight?” “What do you mean?” asks Lady Katrinn Runeaxe. “Well, if you knew you had some advantage over your opponent,” you say, “that might not be considered fair.” “If, say, they were disarmed, or disabled somehow,” you say. Lady Katrinn Runeaxe says, “Well, a battle is won by advantages…” “Advantages of skill, preparedness, equipment, yes,” you say, “but there are certainly some ‘advantages’ that could be considered dishonorable.” “I am sure that there are some,” says Lady Katrinn Runeaxe, “and I would do my best to avoid taking advantage of them…” “But you must admit that there are times when a foe is fearsome enough that they simply must be eradicated,” insists Lady Katrinn Runeaxe. “I am not saying you should throw a sword to an unarmed undead,” you say. “But any humanoid foe,” you say, “should certainly be allowed equal footing.” Lady Katrinn Runeaxe shrugs and says, “Yes, that is true. I would not enter a match that was dishonorable in that way.” “I am glad to hear it”, you say, “remember that you have acknowledge that when you are on the battlefield.” Quest Completion Lord Berrick says, "So, some took some reminding, but overall, we have a sterling group here.
