Quest Offering "The donations you collected," Barri says," goes to more than funding the guards here. We have a collection of investments through allies we use to hamstring our opponents as much as possible. The money you collected will be going to House Heartsworn in their attempts to finally pin something on House Vermach." "However, I need you to collect something else for them. Heartsworn needs evidence for this trial of theirs. Find something we can hand over to them that they can bring before the King." Guard Shane "Guard Shane," you say, "I need to ask you some questions." "What about, <Player>?" he asks. "I need to take a statement about what you've noticed about House Vermach's activities recently." "Oh, them," he says, frowning. "What do you need to know about them?" "What have you seen them doing recently? You are right here at the gate and you have the best chance of noticing anything." "Well," he says, "they continue to test the boundaries of our district. I've seen them send agents over a few times." "Alright," you say, writing it down. "What else have you noticed?" "There's always people coming and going from around Tully's place," he says. "I don't know what that's about though." "Has anyone looked into it recently?" you ask. He looks down, kicking the dirt. "Someone did. As always though, they end up dying of some horrible poison soon after." "I see," you say, writing it down. "So you know anything about this poison?" "I don't," he says. "But Roland Kirthan might. I know he had a pretty shady past." "Thank you Shane," you say. "This will help quite a bit." Roland Kirthan "Roland," you should up to him, "I need a moment of your time." "What do you need, <Player>?" he asks. "I'm a little busy." "I just have some questions about a subject you have copious knowledge about." He looks over his shoulder and quietly asks, "What about?" "I hear you're the resident man to talk to about poisons," you say. "What do you know about them?" He looks around for a moment. "I am that man, and I know a bit. What do you need to know in particular?" "Vermach agents have been poisoning the guards," you say. "What are they using?" "It depends," he says. "There's a lot out of different kinds out there." "Anything that can be collected around here?" you ask. "They're been fond of Granite Blossom recently, though it's hard to come by out here," he says. "It grows mainly in their our lands." "Granite Blossom?" you say, whispering to yourself. "Yeah, there's some outside the gate over there. Grows on the rocks mainly," he says. "You'll find some out there." "Thank you," you say. Mortin Lorman "Mortin?" you ask. "I don't really have time for you, <Player>," he says. "You're going to get me in trouble." "I see you've used of the last farthings you got on that swill there," you say. "Yeah?" he says, swaying slightly. "How would you like to make a few more? Maybe even a couple fo shillings?" "I don't know," he says. "You're working for Barri. That usually ends poorly for people." "And if you refuse, I don't think Barri will be very pleased," you say. "Oh griffon dreck. What does he need now?" "We need you to help yourself, and our allies," you say. "Can you do that?" "Do I have to be sober?" "Yes," you say. "We need you to testify for Heartsworn against Vermach." "Again?" he asks. "Barri already asked me to do that a while ago." He sighs in disgust. "Alright, I'll do it." "Very well," you say. "I'll deliver the news to Barri." House Heartsworn has a bevy of trials in the works against House Vermach. I don't know exactly what happened between them, but they have that gleam of vengeance in their eye. That new Duchess of theirs has definitely surprised everyne with thise new tactic."
