9.2. Can a person master ALL skills in crafting granted they had an infinite amount of time to do so?

No.

Source: Silius

You are limited to a primary and secondary trade. Your secondary trade will only grant you access to basic recipes from that trade. I do not have plans for allowing you to specialize in your secondary trade. Note: Secondary crafting will not be in the initial release.

Source: Silky Venom

When you choose a progression path you are excluded from the other, but much like other aspects of our game you can opt out and do something else entirely.

And while secondary trade will not be going in (at least not for launch) we are making adjustments to support you being able to support yourself without having to find other crafters outside your trade, but if you do decide to mix the best of multiple worlds the result will reflect this. - Early November 2005

9.3. What is a specialization?

All crafters excel to max level within their trade. The specialization branches are a focused branch that give you access to more advanced recipes. The quality of the items is still up to you, your skills and how well you did in the process.

Specializing will not be as specific as vehicles, it is more along the lines of specializing on a group of items. Being a blacksmith and then choosing the path of armorsmith means that you can still make basic weapons but you can't make the special weapons that may be more situational weaponry and thus takes a specialist to craft. Hopefully this clears it up.

We have a trade focused on potions and then a specialization of that trade that gets more advanced potion making. I am really looking forward to fleshing this one out.

9.4. In reference to the list of classes you posted are those the names of just the base classes or both the base and specialization classes?

Those are the 5 trades for Vanguard, each one of those has 2 specialty trades within it that can be chosen. -- Will there be enough in game information to help us make an informed decision about what crating class and specialization would work best for us and what harvesting skill we may want to take up to support our crafting class? Yes and yes. While we facilitate you shifting your trade we still want to avoid you misunderstanding exactly what you are getting into thus making an uninformed decision that could end with you spending a lot of time on a path you did not want to be on.

9.5. Can I change my profession? Will I lose all skill in the class I drop?

The plan now is that you will remove your skills and start on a new path but you will retain your crafting level and attributes. Shifting your primary to a secondary and losing all recipes but the basic ones is a possibility.

Having the ability to switch trades is a nice option. Of course, as you've said, there must be a price to pay or people will just switch without caring.

The current idea we are working with is extremely unforgiving, so you don't have to worry about flavor of the month crafters. Silius is still working with this right now. -1 December 2005

9.6. Does primary/secondary refer to the specializations? In other words, if I choose to be a blacksmith, and specialize in armor, weaponsmith would automatically be my secondary? Or does primary/secondary refer to two different professions?

Two different professions -- I can have a main crafter as say an herbalist and work this to become a master, 2. but at the same time I can have a woodcrafter. The woodcrafter would only be able to work with basic items to a certain level. You can max both but your secondary will only be able to get basic recipes.

Note: Secondary crafting will not be in the initial release as noted below.

9.8. Will our chosen [adventuring] class have any effect on what tradeskills we will be suited for?

No and no

Source: Silius

You do not have to be an adventurer to become a max level crafter.

All the trades in the crafting sphere are pickable by any class. There is no restriction. - 15 November 2005

9.11.1. How will Outfitters get their resources?

9.12. Stonecrafter

Jewelry, structural, furniture, focus items

9.13.1. Woodcrafters will be the ones making bows and other wooden weapons correct?

Yes they will

Source: Silius

Unfortunately the current decision on the adventuring side is that there will not be arrows in the game. This could change and if it does we will try to support it best we can through crafting. As far as differing bows well we are doing our best to lump different bow styles into the system. - November 2005

9.13.2. Will Woodcrafters make arrows?

No. Unfortunately the current decision on the adventuring side is that there will not be arrows in the game. This could change and if it does we will try to support it best we can through crafting. - early November 2005
