Basics of crafting There are three archetypes within the crafting sphere. They are: Depending on what you want to fashion, you may which to research which archetype you are interested in first. Unlike WoW you have one and only one archetype and only one specialization within that archetype. At level 11 you will need to choose your path, which are explained in the archetype links above. Continental Styles Work Orders In every crafting outpost and now housing areas with GU3v1, there are NPCs named "Taskmasters" that hand out work orders. Taskmasters will hand out either finishing or refining work orders. Work Orders are a necessity with crafting, as you will not be able to level up solely on new recipes and quests and you will need their faction to open up special recipes. They are also currently the only way to receive an upgrade or rare recipe, unless you want to purchase one on the broker. You can choose either a single item work order, a "set of" items or a "batch of" items. Single work order items, even if made to Grade A will give you nothing but coin. Sets and batches will yield either coin, a supply pouch (green), a supply bag (blue) or a supply kit (yellow) as a reward. Blue and yellow rewards can yield new crafting tools or clothes. Only the supply kits have a chance to drop the recipes. Changing Specializations Changing specializations does not level you down to 0. You do however lose all of your recipes, which means you will also lose all of your upgrade/rare recipes from WO drops. Factions and your basics remain the same. Changing Archetypes If you wish to change archetypes, you simply need to go to a crafting instructor of your new wanted archetype. Please be aware that all of your skills will be reduced to that of a level one crafter, you will lose your level and (if you have decent tools) you will need to buy new tools to begin your new career. However, you will still be able to wear and receive the effects from gear that is beyond your level as changing archetypes does not automaticlly unequip crafting gear. Other Avenues to Advance You will find a list of crafting quests below, separated between crafting gear and crafting tools. Quests are a great way of earning continental faction as well as significant experience. The gain from a new tool is not always significant but going from a heroic hammer from Tursh to a legendary hammer from Ca'ial Brael is monumental. Page last modified on October 21, 2007, at 08:04 AM
