Idara is the daughter of Zulran, a merchant of the city of Ahgram, who may have fallen from fortune because he used black market merchandise to compete against the Zephyr Trading Company - or may have been the victim of more complex machinations.
Idara was born into a wealthy family of merchants living in a small fishing village just outside the Qalian capitol of Ahgram. Her father was well respected and never gave in to seedy dealings others fell to for a quick profit. As a child, Idara would sometimes sneak into the great halls and courts of Ahgram where she studied the skills of politicians and emissaries. Sharp tongued and quick witted, she could easily talk her way out of any inconvenient situation. Over time, her interest in politics was fueled by her father's passionate discussions against corruption. After her parent's myterious death on a business trip, Idara was faced with villagers demanding her to pay them for their lost goods. Although denied help from the courts, she did impress a court judicator who helped sell her possessions and tutored Idara in the art of law and diplomacy. She is now driven by two great desires: discover what happened to her parents, and free the land of corruption.
Her father's death has left Idara determined to fight against the corruption and injustices of society in the Ahgramun Empire, where non-citizens and women have no legal voice.
