A Captain in command of the Red Blade Unit during the Fall of Targonor. Part of his life is chronicled in the lore serial, Willem's Stand.
There are several contradictions to Captain Willem's character as it is portrayed in the chronicle, and he is variously described as a brute, a drunkard, a conspirator of the Crimson Ring, and yet a good soldier and hero of the final defence of Targonor.
He was certainly formerly of a higher rank, though there is not enough detail to ascertain the veracity of rumors that he was involved in the murder of Chancellor Kerrick.
It appears possible that Willem's captaincy has been arranged by a smuggling cartel (perhaps the Crimson Ring, in exchange for Willem turning a blind eye to shipments coming into the city. However, as the invasion begins to overwhelm the city, Willem appears to make a difficult break with his past connections to focus on the invasion.
When King Horus Targonor Furth ordered a delaying defence of the city with, the Red Blades are one of the few units remaining. Willem fights with the King until his loss, and then concentrates the Undead attacks on an old armory, taking many out in a spectacular explosion which also costs him his own life.
Relevant Lore:
The unit was assigned a new captain today, a man by the name of Rastus Willem. I've heard the name, but before today had never met him. He's a large, sturdy man, barrel chested and thick limbed. He appears to be approaching middle age and he's got medium length dark, knotted hair. It looks as if it's been a while since he's had a good shave.
