Panther Illusion Mask

1. Why don't the Sirens like me?

Shidreth Mines

Imirial the Seducer is the quest NPC that you are looking for to start this quest line. She is located just beyond the Shidreth Mines standing next to the wall in the chunk of Coterie Infineum Sanctum.

She is a Vizarian Siren, and unfortunately for you these Sirens do not like you at all. Trying to reach her you will realize that all Vizarian Sirens will try to kill you on sight! Something must be done about this if you wish to continue on your way to Pantherhood, and luckily for you it is as easy as killing their enemy.

The Siren's home are being invaded by the Shidreth Miners and they are not too happy about it. Killing the mobs in the Shidreth Mines will most certainly grant you favour with the Vizarian Sirens. Unfortunately you need a lot of favour (yes a lot!). In fact you need +12000 faction to the Vizarian Sirens before Imirial the Seducer will even talk to you. Each mob inside of the mines will grant you +25, which means you will have to kill 480 of them before you are done. The mine has 43 mobs inside of it which you can kill, each of them are lvl 27-28 (2 dot). With a little bit of math you will notice that you will have to clear the entire cave approximately 11 times! Respawn of the mine is 10 minutes.

Mobs that give you +25 to faction

Shidreth Mining Lodeboss

Shidreth Mining Excavator

Shidreth Mining Pickwielder

Shidreth Mining Taskmaster

Shidreth Mining Quarryman

Shidreth Mining Delver

Shidreth Mining Enforcer

Every now and then you will see 4 different named mobs: Enforcer Jaffar, Enforcer Brikash, Enforcer Akram, and Enforcer Torneld. They are all level 28 (2 dot) and do drop an assortment of good gear and weapons. The biggest bonus about killing these names is the fact that you will earn +40 faction for killing them instead of the measly +25 for the regular mobs.

They each have a Place Holder (it means they don't have to be up all the time!), but I did notice that at least one of them was up per respawn.

On the West end of the Shidreth Mines lives the Vizarian Sirens.

They start out KOS to you, so if you get near them they will

attack you! If you kill any of them you will loose the precious

faction you are trying to gain, so best to stay clear of this area!

Once you get the +12000 faction necessary you are finally ready to start the quest!

(NOTE: After -8000 faction with the miners, they become KOS)

2. Imirial the Seducer finally likes me!

Quest: Encroaching Miners

Imirial the Seducer is finally talking to you and has offered you a quest to kill 10 miners and 10 enforcers. This should seem like a piece of cake now that you have just killed 480 of them! After completion of this quest go back to Imirial the Seducer for the turn in.

(NOTE: As of June 2008, if Imirial the Seducer has been killed, she will not re-spawn. If you don't find her up, you will need to petition and get GM support)

3. Entering the Pantherhood

Quest: Decapacitate the Enforcers

After completing the last quest Imirial the Seducer is finally ready to give you the final quest. This time she wants you to bring back the heads of the 4 lieutenants. What is good is you have most definitely killed all 4 of these before in the mines while factioning. They always spawn in the same spot and do have Place Holders (Check out my crude map

here

of their locations). The mobs you are looking for are called:

ENFORCER BRIKASH

ENFORCER JAFFAR

ENFORCER AKRAM

ENFORCER TORNELD

Each one will drop a head for every member of your group.

After you have each of their heads, go back to Imirial the Seducer and turn them in for your very own Panther Illusion Mask! There are 2 versions of the mask and you can pick the one that suits you best. The effect on both masks are the same!

Go now adventurer and show everyone the Panther within you!

Good Times in Shidreth Mi

by Nitpaac

Required level 24? 2-dot mobs of level 27 or 28?

Hah, a piece of cake I thought, and at level 26 I took all my paladins pride and started on this adventure. Soon I learned where to single pull (and where the miners seemed to single pull me!). Soon I discovered that the dropped items are upgrades for my (granted, mediocre) geared paladin. Soon I noticed just how perfect this situation was for me: I got nice xp, I got faction, I got loot, I got rhythm, I got music...

But alas, when I hit the -8000 faction with the miners, everything changed. Being KOS in a tight cave full of miners with sharp picks - not exactly a relaxing environment. Luckily, it turned out that the Shidreths are rather slowpokes. Even while KOS, you can sneak up from behind until you are *very* close and whisper "boo" in their ear. It's fun! :)

The roamers however are a bit cleverer, but nothing that can not be matched by a players mind! With a feeling for aggro range you can squeeze by most of the mobs. Be careful though, because once you are aggroed, they suddenly remember that they dislike you and start to add from greater distances. After a few deaths, I started getting the hang of it (oh, and simply don't pull at the first junction).

There are some places where you can log off and return without being attacked when logging back in. For those who wonder - the two guards at the entrance are on another faction. You can be a deadly enemy of the miners inside the cave, but the guards let you in with a friendly salute. Although I settled for quite some time soloing in there (and it is doable solo), getting a group will greatly reduce the amount of time spent grinding out faction. Just spread the word about being a panther, and you'll quickly find some companions who'll clear the cave with you. With a good group, the faction work is easily done in one evening.

Two problems do arise with a group, though:

1. you have to wait for the repops. They seem to be wary to come back just to be killed...again.

2. The loot decisions. Is it an upgrade? Will it sell? Heck, I can't decide that fast, but meanwhile 3 more mobs fall (and I didn't scratch them so there was no faction gain)

In the end, I really enjoyed my time with the Shidreth Miners. I leveled to 28, added some meaty upgrades to my stats, and I know that I'll likely come back to kill the miners just for a taste of the good old times :)
